Ami Zumkhawala

VP of Strategy & Operations

Ami Zumkhawala is the VP of Strategy and Operations at Luro Health. With more than two decades of leadership across federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), hospital systems, and academic medical centers, she has built a reputation for designing and scaling high-impact healthcare operations. As the former COO of a multi-site FQHC, Ami oversaw enterprise-wide functions—spanning clinical operations, compliance, HR, social services, and facilities—while launching numerous de novo service lines, clinics, and programs that expanded access for underserved communities. Her career also includes service as a Chief Compliance Officer, where she ensured rigorous regulatory adherence while fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement. At Luro Health, Ami leverages this breadth of experience to drive strategy, operational excellence, and sustainable growth for obesity care programs nationwide.

Christopher Lam

Head of Engineering

Christopher Lam is the Head of Engineering at Luro Health. An accomplished HealthTech engineer with more than 20 years of R&D and product-scaling experience. In his most recent healthcare experience, he built fitness and rehabilitation solutions tailored to adults aged 50 and over. Christopher has led cross-functional teams, secured pivotal partnerships, and helped position a venture for a successful acquisition. Christopher is passionate about equitable innovation, he now applies his expertise in regulated software and AI-enabled care pathways to advance Luro Health’s mission of combating obesity in underserved communities

Jamie Kane, MD

Co-Founder & CMO

Jamie Kane, MD is co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Luro Health. He is also Chief of Obesity Medicine and Director of the Center for Weight Management at Northwell Health.  There he oversees multiple clinics, an obesity medicine fellowship and key educational programs for residents. Dr.Kane is a senior contributor to the American Board of Obesity Medicine's, isco-chair of The Obesity Society's Policy and Advocacy Committee and was a founding member of the Tri-State Obesity Society. His research focuses on lifestyle interventions for disadvantaged patients, plant-based dietary approaches and mindfulness in obesity management. He is a nationally recognized speaker on obesity and nutrition.

Janelle Duah, MD

Clinical Lead

Janelle Duah, MD is the clinical lead at Luro Health. Janelle is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with additional specialization in Obesity Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and completedher Internal Medicine residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. Prior to joining Luro Health, she served as a primary care physician at Yale Medicine, where she focused on chronic disease prevention, diagnosis, and management, weight management, and lifestyle-based interventions. In addition to clinical care, Dr. Duah also consults for a variety of health-based media outlets, helping translate complex medical information into accessible, evidence-based content for the public. She is passionate about advancing equitable, patient-centered care through innovation, accessibility,and whole-person wellness.

Steve Kuyan

Co-Founder & CEO

Steven Kuyan is the co-founder and CEO or Luro Health. He is an immigrant and former patient of Sunset Park Family Health Center in Brooklyn. He co-founded Culina Health, transforming it into a telehealth nutrition leader by managing strategy, growth, operations, and fundraising. Prior to Culina Health, Steven co-founded the NYU Tandon Future Labs, A/X Venture Studio, the NYU Center for Responsible AI, AI NexusLabs Accelerator, and NYCai, supporting thousands of founders from ideation to Series A and facilitating over $2 billion in funding, more than 45 exits, and an IPO. As NYU School of Engineering’s first Director of Entrepreneurship, he commercialized NYU’s IP, developed entrepreneurship programs including a global NYU ideation competition, launched an engineering entrepreneurship minor and taught graduate-level entrepreneurship.
